The newly renovated Water Wheel Building in Northville was originally a valve plant, part of Henry Ford’s Village Industries along the River Rouge. The eponymous water wheel remained in disrepair, and the parts remaining of the original steel frame and buckets had become severely rusted. KPR Design surveyed the remains of the existing wheel, researched the documents used for the original design, and prepared a set of documents to be used by a steel fabricator to replace the original wheel.
Additionally, KPR Design worked with local architect Sahba La'al to develop options for a conference room and penthouse office on the roof of the building, producing physical models for reference.
