Originally built in 1962, this two-story apartment building at the corner of W 29th Street and Orchard Avenue featured an outdated ‘stucco-box’ aesthetic and needed a major interior and exterior renovation. However, the North University Park Specific Plan mandates only a select few styles for new construction and remodels in the neighborhood. The proposed design not only adds a third floor on top of the existing building, but also includes exterior alterations in a craftsman style that conforms with the neighborhood standards. The expanded units feature new balconies and high cathedral ceilings, with all new interior finishes, appliances, and casework.
The project was reviewed and approved by the Design Review committee, and is expected to begin construction in 2023.
